Units are serviced daily, but visitors are required to do their own cooking and washing up. No plug points for electric razors are available.
All the units have their own braai (Barbecue) stand – Care should be taken to not leave the braai unattended, as the Hyena have learned that this is an easy source of food, despite the heat of the fire. Braai fires need to be properly extinguished when cooking completed due to fire hazard. Monkeys entering the rooms and even ones vehicle, can be a nuisance.
** Please note that although the water is suitable for bathing and cooking, it is recommended that one does not drink the water and to bring your own drinking water.**
We are only a booking service to secure accommodation at a number of the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife park accommodation venues. We are in no way responsible for the condition of the facilities, which due to severe budgetary cuts from our Provincial Government, has resulted in a lack of general maintenance over the years, with many of the accommodation facilities severely jeopardised and in need of urgent repair.
As of August 2019 there has been substantial maintenance carried out. The chalets have been rethatched as well as the office complex,. Fridges, stoves, microwaves and utensils along with beds and linen have been upgraded.
Far and Wild Safaris has no control over the allocation of units and their condition. Should you choose to visit these venues and subsequently find fault with the accommodation and or service, we are only able to forward your comments to the Park authorities. There is no compensation for this status quo should it not meet your expectation. Please contact ourselves should you require further clarification.
The roads in the Mkuze Game Reserve are tar and gravel in various sections and generally in good condition. The two entrance roads outside the park are rough and very potholed or corrugated in sections, although suitable for normal sedan cars, care should be exercised.
Should you arrive after Mantuma Camp reception has closed, the unit allocated to you will be written on a board outside reception against your name. Take up occupation of the room and report to reception in the morning. Most Credit cards are accepted.
The Mkuze Game Reserve has a number of upgraded (2018) and rebuilt hides at three water-holes and Nsumo Pan.
